Collaborators: Pour Sourire d’Enfant (PSE) and Solutions to End Poverty; STEP (Solutions To End Poverty), Singapore; Collective Studio, Phnom Penh
This is a housing project by PSE for 300 families evicted from the dumpsites. The new village will also have a childcare centre and a livelihood centre for job training and provision of jobs. Our students designed the Childcare Centre and Social Enterprise Center. Currently, fund raising the construction cost. Students visited Phnom Penh, interviewed residents and worked with PSE on the design. A modified childcare design of the students’ works started construction in end 2014.
About Pour un Sourire d’Enfant (PSE)
Pour un Sourire d’Enfant is a non-profit organization established at the end of 1995 in Cambodia. Since its establishment, PSE has been working in Cambodia to provide food, sheltering, medical care, general education and vocational training to destitute, maltreated, abused and uneducated children in Phnom Penh, Sihanoukville and Siem Reap. Today, PSE has taken in its charge more than 6,500 children, supporting around 3,000 children in public schools, 1,500 in the remedial education programme, and 1,500 in the vocational training programme. Around 500 children benefit from specific educational programmes: classes for children with a handicap, day-care centres, infant welfare etc.
